Mediasteak is a blog founded in 2013, focussing on the qualitative curation of free media libraries and video on demand services. The Mediasteak editorial team recommends well-selected content from the confusing online range of public and private television and helps users to orientate themselves. The blog is followed by thousands of users per month and was nominated for the Lead Award and the Grimme Online Award in 2014.
As part of the project funding, the team developed a free app for the set-top box Apple TV 4. The extension of the service to new innovative devices helps to reach a larger audience and to further professionalise it.
The team behind MEDIASTEAK
Anne Krüger graduated in cultural journalism at the University of Arts in Berlin and has studied the developments in the TV and video on demand market since then. The concept of Mediasteak originated within this context.
Laura Pohl graduated in cultural science at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) with a thesis on media usage and information overload, and is co-founder of Mediasteak.
Mediasteak is funded by the MIZ-Babelsberg within the framework of the innovation funding for students and start-ups. The term of the promotion is six months.
